assortment of pics

This is going to be the begging of my work shop and vehicle shed. I had just cut the axle out from under it . Gary picked it up with he track loader while I pulled the axle out from under the trailer. We then picked up the front of it and I cut the dolley assembly from under it and sat it down on some rail road ties.

Finished for now, will go back later and re level it some more and start building the tin shed over the top and the sides. Will be closing in the west (left) side  and the east side will be left open so I can park the tractor and vehicles in out of the weather.  Now I need to locate some old power poles for the main structure.

Just a sunset picture taken from my place.

This snow moved in the day ofter dropping the trailer down, it must of rained at least 2 inches before it snowed.  Would have been a really big snow storm if it had been cold enough.  Dang it   lol  I was ready to be snowed in for a few days.

Was driving to town and saw the snow stuck to the grass and thought it would make a cool picture, if I only had a real camera lol

Tomorrow I go to town and meet with Terra, she is a great artist and she is going to draw crickets paw prints so they are life size and realistic in appearance so I can then go to the tattoo place and get them tattooed onto my arm where she used to stand and make paw indentations while we drove down the road.  Really excited about getting them, never really thought about getting a tattoo before but you only live once right?

cold

its times like these that a house would be great lol  The cold weather moved in to quick, I don't have the footings in or the floor.  The trenchers injector pump went out so everything was delayed. So now I don't know when the footings and pipes will be put in the ground.  I have been just doing about nothing lol  Its been really cold. Should be cutting firewood, not today though. Aunt and uncles furnace has a broken heat exchanger and the repair crew is coming to fix it today. Have to baby sit them while they are in the house.  Not a bad job to do today lol  Surfing and watching tv for the day and staying warm.  got chilled last night ans still chilled.     Hope everyone is doing great :O)

property pics

Just showing the rv parked on property and the power pole :O)

My New driveway into my property lol

Here is the trailer that I am going to cute the axle and dolly out from under it and lower it down onto some railroad ties then anchor it down so the wind wont blow it over. Then I'm going to build a lean too shed on both sides of it with a roof over the whole thing.

This is a bread box that I made whenI was a freshman in high school for my mom. I stole it back the other day :O)    a mouse or rat has chewed on it right below the roll top lid handle. Need to clean it up and sand out the chew marks and re stain it.

busy day

Been moving stuff to my place today, just a bunch of odds and ends. I then decided to move my storage trailer, had to get the old truck running, hook it up, fight the fifth wheel lock to stay locked, air up a tire, then drive it down to the property. I unhooked it all and had to fight the fifth wheel lock to get it unlocked, broke the dolly crank had to fix it in order to get it raised up enough to get out from under it with the old truck.
I also hauled some more dirt today, had to fill in the ditch where my driveway is going to be, leveled it all out with the tractor and packed it down good. I will hopefully haul some gravel and dump it there before the rains get here.  Need to dump aload in front of the door on the trailer so I wont be walking in mud all the time.  just going to get enough to do the job for now, will haul in allot more at a later time.
Going to work some on my limestone name stone, it has someone Else's name on it too so I will be removing that one, not sure what the heck I will put in its place, might just leave a chipped out hole in it.  Not sure what to do to fix it lol  Don't know where I am going to put it yet either.  By the house or out by the road and the driveway or????               I will take some pics soon, I promise :O)
I also went into town and got some more of my stuff from my mom and dads old place, still have some more to get but need more room in the storage trailer first, so I will be building some over head storage shelf's  or a attic type thing in the trailer. will really help allot.  Will need to run some electric wires to it soon so i can have a light or two plus be able to use my power tools  hehe....
Was looking at the doors today too,  not in very good shape actually. Going to look on craigslist and see if I can find a used garage door, would really make it more vermin proof and easier to get in and out of too.  be safe all  :O)

thanks giving

Had a great thanks giving, good food and good company, cant get any better than that.  Still working on left overs and the pies lol  ate way too much but who counts calories over the holidays?  (not me)   going to my sisters place this Sunday for another family get together.  Mom, my two sisters and most of their kids will be there.  I have to make home made rolls for the dinner, that's all they want me to bring so I am getting off easy this year :O)
Moved the rv today down to my property,  pretty windy today but its going to be nice staying on my own place now.  Just need to get a few more things done, like a house, a well, a work shop, some sidewalks or at least some flag stone walk ways..  going to plant a few maple trees, not sure if I should plant them this fall or wait for spring?  I have heard and read both times are perfect and the worst possible times lol  50 50 chance of success or failure lol   I'm going to plant the kind that you can get the sap from and make home made syrup.  It would be really cool to make my favorite meal (breakfast with pancakes)  and be able to use my very own home made syrup on them..  Might take a few yrs to fulfill this but I can wait (or find someone with the maple trees I need to use and make a deal with them)   have to see.
Need to move my storage trailer  down there soon so I can get my tools out of it and rearrange things so it will be easier to use them.  My table saw and radial arm saw is almost all the way to the front of the trailer so I have to unload alot of stuff to get to them. Before I put things back in I'm going to build some over head storage so I can put alot of the lighter stuff up there out of the way so I can have more room..   Alittle bit at a time and someday it should be getting close to what I want :O)  I hope lol
   be safe all   :O)

I really hope that everyone does have a great day and you get to enjoy the company of family and remember the ones that cant be there fondly.

I have electricity now :O)

The power company came today and installed the pole and meter plus a disconnect box.  Going to town tomorrow and picking up a smaller breaker box to hook up some temporary 110 outlet boxes.  Got the sewer lagoon done (well, mostly done lol)  Need to get the trencher in here now and get the sewer pipe in the ground next.  while the trencher is here I will be putting in the footings and electric lines under ground as well.       Thinking about moving the RV onto the property also.  :O)

new toy :O)

this is a Fresnel lens out of a big screen projection tv, it just a plastic magnifying glass but it is strong.!!!

This is whats left of the tv and you can see the mirror that I got out of it as well.
I got it out around 4 pm and used it to burn a old dead tree, it started burning the wood immediately!!  even though the sun was low on the horizon and alittle hazy. I would sure hate to get careless with this thing.  there are allot of utube videos, that's where I learned about these  :O)  they are pretty amazing in what you can do with them.  I also got three smaller magnifying glasses (actually glass)  out of it also.    you can melt steel, cook, and just burn things up with them lol (I imagine you could wipe out a intire ant hill at just one short setting) no I'm not going to burn ants up lol....  going to be fun playing around with it. Like I said though, You have to be VERY CAREFUL with them, they will burn you instantly!!!!     will keep you all up to date about the experiments that I do with it.

Little things that make you remember.

This picture looks Innocent enough but it made me sad for a little while today. Its not the trees or the building pads, or the lack of leaves on the trees.  Its the smear marks on the window that this picture was taken out of on the pickup.  You see, those "smear" marks are reminders of my baby girl cricket. She hated to be left in the truck when I would go into stores where she wasn't aloud, She would bark and raise 7 kinds of hell about being left in the truck (or any vehicle)..  She would rub her nose all over the window and leave "cricket tracks"   The pickup has them on both the windows and the rv has the same problem :O)
Its the little reminders that hit the hardest sometimes..

property pics

This is going to be the shop building pad, I have a old semi van trailer that I am going to bring in and set on it. I will have to cut the axle out from under it and the dolly system to get it all the way down on the ground.  Then I will drill some post holes around it so I can build a shed over top of it and have parking for equipment out of the weather that way.  Will be pretty nice when I get it done. Will be awhile :O)     That is my tractor in the back ground, I was picking up roots from the fill dirt.

Got to love big Iron lol   This is my uncles track loader that I have been using, sure goes pretty quick using this machine for digging the dirt up and loading it into his old grain truck/dump truck. going to use it to make the sewer lagoon next.

the Grain truck/dump truck, no power steering and no ac either lol  the heater works best during the summer and you guessed it right :O)  the ac works best during the winter..

This is where I am getting the dirt from, took this pic yesterday so the hole is about double in size now.

The last few days that I have been working on the place, blue (aunt and uncles dog) has been there with me doing some work of his own.  He is in  a little pond that is on the neighbors property to the east of mine and it has abunch of frogs in it. Blue has been frog hunting the whole time and he is getting pretty good at catching them now.  he brings each one of his catches up to show me and then he burys them in the building pads that I have been building.  He's a pretty funny dog, looked around one time to see where he was and found him sitting in the pickup watching me lol   Teach me to leave the pickup door open.

Not a good picture but if you look close you can see the string line that is layed out so I can mark the ground with paint so I can trench in the footings.
things are shaping up, I am hoping that the weather holds out long enough to get the footings in at least if not the floor too.  But I will be happy with the footings and the water and sewer lines.    Hoping the electric gets put in soon, think i might move the RV down there so I can start "living" there..  Still trying to get the well driller to get out there soon but he is busy so don't know for sure when it will be.

cricket

In other news, cricket is back home.  I had her cremated, the plan is to be cremated  myself when the time comes and then we will both be put in the same container. Then part of our ashes will be put on wolf creek pass with my dads and the rest will be put in the cemetery here back at home.
Sometimes I catch myself thinking that I should be getting home to check on cricket or that I need to take her outside to go potty.  I miss her.   Blue is better now, he has gave up looking for her for the most but I know that he still looks for her when I come out of the RV or getting out of the truck when I get home.  Such a empty spot in my life,  but I do have all my pics of her and my memories :O)   I just wish that the ex was a better person so I could have abunch of the other pictures of cricket that we took over the yrs but that will probably never happen.

first pictures of my place

just how cool is it to live on a road that rarely ever sees a grader or traffic?

this is looking east

Looking kinda north east at the back side of the property, just a few trees and not hardly any of them are those damned thorn trees!!!  Thank goodness.

this is looking easterly from the intersection.  Its mostly a prairie grass field. There are allot of deer that wander across the place.  Gary and I spent this afternoon hauling dirt up to make the house building pad. Going to build one for the shop tomorrow maybe.  I will take some pics  and post the progress soon.

My Cricket 1-02-00 11-1-11

Cricket came into the family in the spring of 2000, we had decided to get a dog so we went to the pet store. I saw cricket right off the bat and new she was the one for us :O)  She was a little almost hairless little bitty thing, she was so cute.  Bk/ ex wife  wanted another dog but I stuck to my guns and we went home with cricket.  This little girl had problems right off the bat actually,   we noticed that she had tape worms so we had to get her doctored the very next day and the vet told us that she had not been taken very good care of,  it broke our hearts to think that there are people in the world that could miss treat a small little dog like this.   We got her all taken care of and she quickly became a very important part of our family.   She would go every where with us, she even flew on a jet to Florida with us on vacation once lol   That isa whole story in itself :O)
We took many road trips over the yrs, Colo allot,  Texas to the gulf coast,   she went every where we went.  She only missed one trip actually, we went to Colo and left her at the vets office,  what a mistake that was.  I missed cricket allot but BK missed her even more and it just about ruined the whole trip. On the way back home we called the vet to see if we could pick her up early and he said yes so we got her and realized that she wasn't making any noise when she barked.  Made all the motions but she couldn't bark anymore.  She had barked so much that she couldn't anymore.  We decided right then that if we were going to take a trip, she had to go with us!!
In 2005 Bk and I split and we actually had to put in the divorce papers visitation rights so we both could have cricket.  I know lol  crazy huh?  But that is just how much cricket meant to us.  Bk and I ended up getting back together  and life was more or less good again untill this last jan 2011.  Cricket came with me.  Winky and pig (crickets baby's)  they were born in 2006   I sure miss them two also.  Always wondering how they are.  anyway,   cricket and I have spent the last 9 months together almost 24/7 .   only a few hours here and there have we been apart from each other.
Cricket has always been there for me, waiting for me to get home or to go for a ride on the 4wheeler or to go to town for a ride.  She would even ride on the motor cycle with us :O)  should have seen peoples faces when they would realize there was this little ball of fur there with us lol
Cricket was a on the go personality.
The picture above is what cricket was doing when we were in the rv or in the house. :O)  she wasa  master relaxer  :O)

This picture above really doesn't need any explanations about how she felt when we were on the go :O)  as long as she could have the window down and the wind in her face, She was a happy camper. She loved to be on the go as you can see :O)

This is a picture of her in new Mexico, it was a potty break.  If she wasn't  enjoying a rest  she was just enjoying a ride of one sorts or another, or she was on the prowl sniffing and exploring the area around her.  She hada nose that could sniff out anything.     She had a good life, we took better care of her than most people take care of themselves.  I found out while in colo that she had congestive heart failure problems.
I did everything possible to insure that she was comfortable at the end, She died at home with me holding her and comforting her, telling her that I loved her and to go find grandpa (my dad)          I am going to miss this little girl so very much.

I love you cricket

11-1-11

horrible night,   Cricket is gone.  She passed a couple of hours ago, the camper got instantly empty with her passing.  She was my baby girl, traveling companion, she would listen to me for hours.  Right now, I cant even think about it hardly.  My heart hurts.
She fought going, she just didnt have a choice.  Her will was strong but her heart wasnt.   God I miss her already so much..........    Rest in peace my baby girl

catching up

Yes, I am still alive.  (my spell check is on the blink, sorry) Trully sorry that I have not blogged lately.  I made up my mind in flagstaff while I was driving to a walmart parking lot for the night, I had put the destination in the gps unit and was following it to the parking lot. It told me to get on west I-40 and I told it that I didnt want to go west that I wanted to go east!!  Thought about it for a sec or 2 and realized that I did indead want to go east instead of west. So I turned west and headed for home.
Earlier in the day I had found a rv repair and welding shop and had called it only to get ahold of another rude individual of the indiam persuasian to hear him tell me to call back monday and even then it would be a week before he would even be close to getting to it.  So this didnt help my mood either.
When I was getting ready to leave this time I kept putting off the leaving date time and time again, should have listened to my inner voice but sometimes I get stuberon...  all the way to colo I was debating with myself about my actions and then all teh way to flagstaff I was still debating my actions.  Yes, sometimes I am hard headed and very very stuberon....  so anyway.
I stopped and threw all of the stuff that i could in the trailer to the rear of it to get the weight off teh tonge.  Risky move I know but i was tired, homesick already adn lacking any faith in fellow man at this point!!  I headed for home.  Left flagstaff at 6 pm stopped that night in gallup nm and spent the night.  Cricket was sick that night and had to go poop about every 1.5 hrs so we didnt get much rest. poor little girl, I felt so bad .
We left gallup about 930 am  and stopped in meade ks about 8 pm  stayed in a nice little park on teh east side of town, very nice place.  headed out about 9am and pulled into peggy adn garys about 4pm.
I am done traveling for teh winter, I thought about alot of things while driving all those miles. I have always  went for drives when needing to think about things.  Ussually doesnt take that many miles to get it all thought out though lol    I thought about my old job, my ex wife .  My dads death, about all the stuff that had been going on in my life for the last few yrs.  How unhappy I had been and stressed beyound any and all boundryies that anyone should have to deal with.  I feel fortunant thaqt I actually came out of it all with my sanity.   I figured out that I had been running in a way  from all the bad memories that were haunting me. I needed this summer like a drowning man needs a life preserver.
I found myself again basically, :O)    and it feels good to be home again where my family and friends are..  I loved traveling around adn I really love gold prospecting and that will be a part of my life forever :O)  but I need a home base, a place of my own taht I can make just the way I want it. Roots that I have put in the ground that will grow to be just one part of my dream and life..
I have 3 acres now that I am starting to work on, alot of work ahead of me thats for sure. There is nothing and I mean nothing on these three acres except a few trees and praire grass.  But its mine to do with as I want adn how I want to shape it to my eye and heart.   I am going to build a small house on it to start with, not sure if it will be a normal house or a cordwood house, really want to build a cordwood home but I really want to move into a house soon.  Yes :O)  the rv is really small now and I want to stretch out and have some room to do that lol    Finances is going to be tight that is for sure but if I can get it built and inclosed  I can fix it up the rest of the way as I  go along adn have the money.
Peggy adn Gary are such wonderful friends....  Not for them I would not have my 3 acres. I dont have the words to exspress my gratitude and love for them.  they have been there for me on more than one occasion and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for being my friends..

So I am giving up the nomad style of life that I have been living, I will still take trips and vacations and who knows, I might hit the road again sometime in the future but I will have my place to come back too.  I am not one of those that can be happy with the road as my home, I need my roots in the dirt somewhere :O)   It has been a learning curve and its has been fun :O)  I would like to have run into a few of you all that I follow but whol knows, maybe one day I still will.
I am keeping the blog going but it will have pictures and stuff about my place being built from the ground up.  I hope you all will still follow me along my journy.   I have to build my house, garage/shop, laggon and put a well in.  Going to get a garden going and so many other things :O)   It ought to be intertaining to watch  :O)    I'm  keeping teh blog name the same :O)  I know now the direction I am heading but the destination is still unknown..    be safe all  :O)   will be putting pics up soon of the place and what I have been doing on it.

dang dang and dang!!

you know, sometimes I wonder if I am doing the right thing here or is fate trying to tell me something?  First, on the trip out to colo I broke a fan belt and over heated the rv pretty bad. Pulled over and fixed the belt and filled back up with anti freeze.  Had been fighting the wind really badly by the Way. Figures, the day I decide to leave the wind blows 900 mph from the south.  anyway.  got the belt and stuff fixed all the while standing and laying in sand burrs. Not fun.  Got to colo just in time for the first big snow of the season (8") so I headed south but first I had to buya  new gas cap, the other one is on top of a gas pump in woodland co.   grrrrr.  got everything back in shape and then headed to warmer regions...  saw the four corners while I was on the go. took pictures but forgot the camera to post them on here.
I am in arizona now.  its been along drive.  and I just found another problem with the rv.  The trailer is too heavy for the hitch.  So its sagging pretty badly and the back bottom of the wall to the bathroom has problems now.  I need to find some metal and weld some bracing up under the rv for some extra support!!!   WTF!!!!    Oh yea,  stopped for gas back north aways and asked a Indian guy if he knew of any welding shops was and he said yea...  and then told me that it would cost me 20 bucks for teh information!!!   &(#^$%^_#@$&#  #*$&#*&%$B!!!!! #%&%).........   needless to say I did NOT pay the old bastard anything....    Drunken assed Indian!!!!   grrrrr
So here I sit in flagstaff arizona wondering just what the hell I am doing here!!  Pretty much tired of my luck not working very good.....  I did locate a welding shop have to see tomorrow if they will at least have the metal I need, I can cut it and weld it myself since I did bring the welder with me again. Will ask to see just how much they will charge me first.  then decide...
Soooo,  The fun has not been in this trip like the colo trip was 2 months ago.  Maybe I used up all my luck then and now it catching up with me.   One more major thing goes wrong and I will might just say piss on it and go home and get a real job and grow up :O)    anyway, got to go.  be safe and talk later to everyone.     grrrr

holy cow

nothing like driving into a blizzard lol  not really but we had one last night as we slept. So much for hanging out at buena vista, way to cold at night and tooooo much snow.  Headed south, at salida at one of my old haunts for free wifi and then going down 285 for a while, will see how wolf creek pass is before taking it. Might have to go farther south into new mexico then across, not sure but i 'm not staying here.

Saw a few of the old gang yesterday and today, some have found shelter for the winter there in BV and some are headed south for the winter.  Couldnt believe that one of them paid me back with some money I loaned them, didnt really exspect it so it wasa nice surprise.   Everyone is planning on hitting cache creek again in the spring, will be likea home coming or something like that lol.

Cricket is doing okay with the altitude so far but it will be better on her to get lower.  I had thought the cat would have gotten used to not moving and have to get broke back in to the moving routine but she never complained or anything, just acted like it was the norm.
well, better go for now, be safe all

Have gotten everything that i am going to get done done and cricket and I with the cat will be on the road again in the morning!!!     Really looking forward to being on the go again. going to miss everyone here but I miss being on the go too.   Will post pictures real soon about some interesting stuff. Headed to colo first then going south to new Mexico then over to Arizona for the winter and more gold prospecting.

Going to try to look a fellow up in az that I used to talk to once in a while. He lives in his van full time with his dogs, been doing that for like 20 some yrs. he is a prospector too and he said he would show me a place to get good gold.  We will see :O)   Will be interesting I believe to visit with him for a while.  Anyway, going to go finish vacuuming and getting the last few things organized for heading out. talk to you all again soon    be safe :O)

Dad RIP

Today the family and I put the rest of dads ashes in the ground, no more is he running around with me all over the place..  Only in thoughts and in my heart :O)    Not allot to say about it actually, Don't know why.   To me, when I put some of dads ashes at wolf creek pass was my time to say good bye to him so today I was not that bothered by what I was doing. Its what he wanted and I have fulfilled my promise to him.
We  all had a good time, talked about some things that dad had done and things that we remembered about him. Joked around some about a few things and had a moment of silence for him. Was a good day.  Love you and miss you Dad, You will be forever remembered and loved.

things that make you go "Hmmmmm?"

This sail boat is sitting out in the middle of no where, in the middle of all these trees in the middle of a field. There is another smaller sail boat and 2 motor boats. Only one is any kind of shape is this larger sail boat but it is in really rough condition.   Last time it was registered was in Florida.

the cabin is pretty bad condition and it smells.

this is one of the large airplane hangers that is still there at the herington air port. It originally started out as a training base for bomber planes back in ww2.  they closed in some years later and this is about all thats left. a few buildings and a bunch of old foundations.  They runways are still there, if you google earth this place you can see it all from a birds eye and its really cool.  There isa large feed lot that uses one of the runways for its cattle pens too.
Back in teh day a bunch of use used to go over there in the winter after a ice storm and play on the runways.  Get up some speed and crank the wheel and hit the gas lol  would slide and spin circle for ever it seemed like :O)   No one ever got hurt but a few fenders got wrinkled lol   I wonder if any of the younger generation does that anymore?

a shot of just one of the many runway aprons that are along the runways. I couldn't get a pic of the run ways but like I said, google earth it and you will see just how big it was.   google either herington ks airport or delevan ks and go north about a mile or 2

this hanger used to welches welding and manufacturing plant, They used to make farm implements. My dad worked here for a short bit and I used to go hang out with him sometimes. The owner of the place was also into gold mining.  He used to tell me stories so imagine that is in part where I got interested in gold mining lol   He was a hard rock mining though.

one of the many many foundations that are all over the place. It was a huge place in its day.

dont think I want to fly this one :O)

something different

didn't know there was some posts surrounding it, used to have chains on it but long gone.

missing a few  pieces here and there.  Some body has not been to kind to this statue.

kinda old huh :O)

this is the view from the co rd. Its on the corner of skiddy rd and J-hill rd in geary co kansas.  I have looked at this thing all my life and finally, 45 yrs later i climbed to the top of the hill and got a close look at it finally :O)   Used to be able to see it really good but the trees and shrubs have kinda grew up and just about got it hide from few.   It has seen alot better days, looks like somebody would take care of it. Maybe a historical society or something like that.    You can see alot from the top but I have no idea what its there for.

lol

  :O)
saw this on another blog, thought it was hilarious and felt the need to share it. Have to find a glass worker to make me one.
